H.G. Wells Comic, Fun Facts

The comic comes from here: http://www.harkavagrant.com/index.php?id=231

And has this interesting bit of information which inspired the comic:

“I read that famous rant by Verne about how Wells was full of it for making up spaceships etc without explicitly showing how they functioned and powering them with steam or coal or what have you, things that made sense in 1899.”

And after that she has an interesting like, an actual radio interview with H.G. Wells and Orson Welles

It’s fascinating to hear this, partly because it starts off with talking about the fallout after the famous War of the Worlds broadcast… I knew people panicked and all, but what surprised me (but shouldn’t have) was people called in to enlist to fight against the Martians 😀  Or that Hitler made reference to the event at his Munich speech! (yikes).  It even tops off with HG making reference to a movie you just might have heard about 😉

But listening to HG, I have to agree with the comic artist’s opinion: “Who could EVER stay mad at someone so adorable? I ask you!”

Wow… really, you have to listen to that clip.  That’s listening to a bit of history as it was being made right there…
